Getaway Itinerary to the Kerala

Day 1: Arrival & Backwater Exploration

  • Arrive in Kollam and check into your hotel or resort, ideally by the backwaters for a peaceful setting.
  • Start with a visit to Ashtamudi Lake, the second-largest lake in Kerala, which offers serene backwater views and is perfect for a houseboat cruise. You can experience the beautiful scenery of coconut groves, small villages, and wildlife during the ride.
  • Explore Munroe Island, where the backwaters meet the sea. You can take a canoe ride here to explore its unique ecosystem and village life.
  • Spend the afternoon at Jatayu Earth Center, located in the nearby town of Chadayamangalam (optional). The center offers an aerial view of the surroundings and has a giant statue of Jatayu, a mythical eagle from the Ramayana.

  • Spend some time at Shenduruny Wildlife Sanctuary, an offbeat destination located around 40 km from Kollam, where you can enjoy nature walks and wildlife sightings in the forested area.
